Have you checked the sway bar link bushings by chance? they can crack, and then you will get a metallic rattling sound over bumps, if it's not that, try looking in the middle of the struts , tell me if the strut stud is in the middle of the mount. which will be on each side of the inner fender well, if one looks different than the other, then I would say it is the strut mount broken.
Automotive Expert
In my opinion, it is most likely either the sway bar links, or the strut mount. Could be the control arm bushings some as well, but most common things are going to be the sway bar links or strut mounts. If it needs a new strut mount, I just buy loaded struts complete and do it that way. Since it's not much more and you don't have to compress the coil spring to replace them. . Let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you!!

the sway bar bolts were loose, however, I tightened them but still the ticking. It doesn't act make odd noises at low speeds and it a rotational noiseBecause of that I don't think it's the strut

I follow you, Look at the sway bar bushings. where the rubber compresses against the actually sway bar. Make sure they are good. Does it not really make noises over bumps worse? like on gravel at around 5-10 mph?

Lower control arm theres a questionable bushing howeverNo noises over bumpsNo other noises on gravel, I live on a dirt road

Alright, I understand. Is it worse around rolling turns, such as a longer right or left turn where you load the vehicle more on the right or left side?

The sway bar bushings just looked like a two piece pinchit worsens around cornersTo the righIt worsens
Automotive Expert
Alright, if it's worse around a right turn, you load the left side of the vehicle more, so in my opinion, it's probably going to be the left front hub bearing. if you hear it more in the front. or the rear hub bearing if you hear it more in the back.

It's in the front and I have done the 6 and 12, 3 and 9. I checked the temperature on the questionable hub and it was actually lowerHub bearing is what I've been thinking as well but just not showing true signsI just don't want to be throwing part at it

I follow you there. But, with that symptom of it being worse around a corner, and a "rotating" type noise. I don't see how it could be much else really. I would have to suggest that first. But I follow you there. Another way to really try to narrow it down is with a set of chassis ears. But some shops have them and some don't. Not sure if you could borrow them from a local auto parts store or not but I don't think the Oreilly's near me has them in their loaner department. That may be beneficial just have to be careful where you clamp them with things that rotate such as axles and wheels .

Ok, I thank you for your time and the second option because I've been hesitant to replace the hub bearing without any play.
Automotive Expert
I follow you there, but I believe it is probably coming from that, as it doesn't take much wear at all for it to make a bit of noise. Thank you and have a great week!!

You too and stay safe.
Automotive Expert
Absolutely, you as well. Thanks!
