Hi. I drive a 2006 Volvo S40. While driving, it began flashing a series of warning messages. First, it said "Brakes failing-pull over safely" then it started saying "Air bag Failing" and then "Power steering failing." It kept flashing these messages one after the other. I pulled over and turned the car off and on, and it began to do the same thing. I left the car off for a few minutes, and then it returned to normal and wasn't flashing any more warnings. This is the first time this has ever happened. I have been experiencing a different electrical issue aside from that recently. My driver power window and lock has been working on and off, but I have attributed that to a possible short wire. Any advice here? kinda scared to drive my car Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked your tire pressure? Is it a steady pull? Yes Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your S40 yourself? What have you tried so far? Nothing yet Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? That is all. Thank you

Hi, my name is\*\*\*\*\* to justanswer. Lets see if we cant get you rolling again. So, it sounds like you definitely have some electrical gremlins going on here. Your car has several onboard computers that run control all of your components. There is a powertrain control module(PCM), body control module (BCM), transmission control module (TCM), etc. All of these modules are connected via a communication network. What's puzzling about your vehicle is that multiple modules are intermittently losing communication. This can be hard to diagnose. First thing to do is check for trouble codes with a scanner and see what the modules have to say. **\*. During this conversation you will be given an automated offer for a phone call from justanswer, not me. You may accept or decline that offer. I don’t personally offer this service so if you take this another tech may call. Thank you\*\***

Is it unsafe for me to drive it still? coincidentally, i have an appointment to go look at new cars tomorrow....so this is such bad timing for my vehicle to be acting up.

The car is not stalling on you while driving, right? If it is not stalling then get that thing to the dealer and trade it in! Perfect timing.

It does not stall, no. It drives wonderfully, aside from those random messages and my driver window frequently failing. The messages on-screen have gone away, and it seems to have returned to normal. I am just concerned it will continue to happen or the car will totally fail. I intend on purchasing a new vehicle, but am just worried the car may die or something if I continue to drive it.

I would say it would be okay. And remember, the dealer doesn't need to know these little secrets.

I will keep quiet about it for sure! :) thank you for your help, Jim!

I understand your concern. In order to diagnose the problem would rack up alot of labor time in the shop and could get quite expensive. May I ask what kind of vehicle you are considering? You are very welcome, and happy auto hunting!

I have a Nissan Quest with several codes showing - P0075, P0882, P0726
Ok the codes you have given me look like they all may point to different problems.
