Q: Car alarm problem

asked by on

I am having a problem with my car alarm.

A: Most car alarms are controlled by computer....

Most car alarms are controlled by computer. If the alarm is going off when it shouldn’t, this issue may be related to the theft module. This issue may require special scan tools in order to diagnose. Fortunately, the theft system in cars is much like the Check Engine Light in the way that it will produce a diagnostic trouble code. Enlist the assistance of a technician who is proficient in electrical diagnosis to assist you with this issue. Once the source of the problem has been found, I would recommend having it repaired as soon as possible as theft system problems may cause your vehicle not to start.
