Hi, I have the 2009 Ford F-150 5.4L 3 valve V8 engine. It looks as if I’m going to need to buy a remanufactured engineThe mechanic I took it to said that the source of the noise was not the lifter or valve springThey discovered that the plastic pieces are gone, the timing chain is loose and the cam shaft has fresh metal showingThey recommended a timing chain, phasers, cam shaft, gaskets for $2,800They said they would put in a refurbished timing set by COILSI wasn’t so sure about that since a remanufactured engine costs around $3200I would like to know how many hours does it take to install an engine...do I need to buy an installation kit or other parts to make it workWhich is better...a remanufactured engine from powertrain products OR powersource?

Good Evening , To replace the engine with a rebuilt long block is 24 hours labor , it will come with all of the gaskets you need , but you will have ot buy things like spark plugs , fluid filters , a new water pump etc.

As far as quality , i would go with the better warrantee or price its hard to say which is better , any rebuild can be defective but so can any major engine work .

Okay thank you

Blower motor stopped working

The car wont go over 4000 rpms
Hi there. This sounds like the engine timing is off. Check the camshaft sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/camshaft-position-sensor-replacement) and crankshaft sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/crankshaft-position-sensor-replacement) to see they are working. The computer has the engine in limp mode to keep the rpm's from going up. If...
Won't start and has spark, 49 psi in fuel pressure, and it ran when I parked the car. Why won't it start?
Hi there. Check the starter and see if is clicking when you turn the key. If the starter is clicking, then either the starter relay or the starter solenoid is not working. If there is no click and the starter...

Massive vibration after 40 mph or once I go from 4th to 5th gear.
Hi Darryl. Thanks for contacting us today. Generally speaking, a single cylinder misfire will gradually create a steady vibration, but not stop when you're accelerating. The type of vibration you're describing is often caused by a transmission or engine mount,...
P0684 glow plug control circuit light on?
The codes do not necessarily mean the glow plugs themselves are faulty. And, in any event, glow plugs are easily tested and should be tested prior to replacement so you don't inadvertently replace good parts. Other causes of the codes...
