I'm Daniel and assisting you today on your inquiry. I'm sorry to hear about the issue you have with your X5.
The rpm gauge on the instrument cluster is for the engine itself and not the transmission.
Fron your description it looks like the engine over reved.
What actually happens now if you try to start it?
Is the starter cranking the engine over or is nothing happening at all?
Are you planning to repair the car yourself or looking for possible causes?
What tools and equipment do you have at hand?

I hear the engine trying to crank but it won't start I have lights horn ect just won't start maybe because it was still very hot

Maybe it's the timing chain I heard a rattling before car stalled I hope it's just was to hot

Could be multiple things.
As you heard mechanical noises unfortunately good possible that we have a issue with the timing chain or similar.
I would suggest to check for proper Diesel pressure and perform a compression test next to make sure we don't have a mechanical damage.
