Q: Air conditioning goes on and off

asked by on

The air conditioning goes on and off.

A: Your air conditioning not working is most l...

Your air conditioning not working is most likely due to a low level of refrigerant in the system. When the pressure sensor in the system detects that the refrigerant is too low, it will shut the compressor off. Over time, the refrigerant will slowly leak out. You won't be able to notice it because it is a gas. You will only notice when your air conditioning does not work. There is also a chance that a component in the system has failed, causing the refrigerant to leak out. I would ask for help from one of the mechanics at YourMechanic to come and check your air conditioning system for leaks, recharge your refrigerant, and get your air conditioning working again.
