Q: A couple of weeks ago replaced battery after car would not start...benn driving it and now it won't start again?

asked by on

Couple weeks ago, went to start car and it would not start. Finally got a jump and drove to AutoZone. They said battery was completely dead, so replaced it. AutoZone checked alternator, they said it was good. Now almost two weeks later, went to start this morning and will not start again. Radio works, lights come on, remote entry works. So not sure what is going on???

My car has 90000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

If the cause of the no start is a dead battery, it may be that the charging system is not working consistently. You might also have parasitic power draw which means that even when the car is off, too much current is being drawn and that is gradually discharging the battery. Typically, there will be some current draw when the car is off but it is small, maybe 30 to 50 milliamps. In your circumstance, what I would recommend is a no start diagnostic. If you request that service, the responding certified mechanic will find the root cause behind this continued no start problem. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.
