What is the exhaust gas recirculation valve?

If you have a V6 Accord, your engine includes an exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR). It works in conjunction with both the engine and the intake to reroute exhaust gases (a portion of them) back into the engine. This allows emissions to be reduced by re-burning both gasoline vapors and other elements (NOx is created when gasoline is burned, so burning spent vapor helps reduce the creation of this pollutant).
