Hi, there are 4 oxygen sensors on this engine. For each cylinder bank, there is one O2 sensor just in front of the catalytic converter, and one O2 sensor just after the catalytic converter - at the front of the center muffler section of the exhaust. Check your problem codes to know which sensor(s) actually need replacement - otherwise replacing all of them will be unnecessarily expensive. I would recommend an exhaust emissions inspection by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.

Only oxygen sensors that are DIRECTLY tested and fail need to be replaced. Please keep in mind that OBD trouble codes do not conclusively diagnose failed parts, nor could they. Consequently, the only way to condemn an oxygen sensor (or...

if the o2 sensor needs to be replaced. should you replace them all if none have ever been replaced at 114000 miles

How do you get access to replace the O2 sensors on a Audi A6 4.2 engine? There does not appear to be any room?

Rough/ low idle, smells rich, and has a knocking sound near rear (like exhaust is rattling).

Hello. This may be potentially related to the mass air flow sensor or throttle position sensor. Initially, it may have been a faulty O2 sensor, but now since that has been replaced, that part of the system should work correctly....

Where is the downstream O2 sensor located?

Hello, thanks for writing in about your 2013 Chevrolet Sonic. The downstream O2 sensor is always mounted after the catalytic converter or on the back side of it. If you'd like some help wit this, consider YourMechanic, as one of...

Will replacing your O2 sensor stop your car from vibrating at a stop?
