Steering Rack/Gearbox Replacement $321.16 - $2117.47 Get a Quote

There was a Ford recall involving the power steering system on your model so you should check with Ford to be sure that any warranty related work was already performed or perhaps should be performed. Hopefully, you have already received an authoritative diagnostic, otherwise it is in your best interests to have a mechanic confirm that the motor is actually the fault and, as well, determine if any other parts are required. Poor connections to the motor will make it appear as if the motor is bad. At any rate, you just want to be sure the exact fault is understood so you don’t needlessly replace the wrong part(s). To get the process started, you can make a generic request via YourMechanic’s rack replacement service page. Just indicate in the notes that you desire only motor replacement and/or a diagnostic prior to any work. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic because we want you to make the most of your repair dollars and help you to get the best possible results.

How do you check the brake and clutch fluid?

Keeping an eye on the clutch and brake fluid in your car isn’t hard to do. It is important, though. Both of these systems are hydraulic, and low fluid can lead to low pressure and reduced operation. Here’s how...

How can I best research the cause of smelling burnt oil from under the hood after drives over 20 miles?

If oil from the engine compartment is vaporizing, due to high heat, or "burning", the source of the leak is typically near or onto the hot exhaust manifold(s). There is also a possibility of hydraulic fluid, such as power steering...

What do you think the problem is?

First check the engine oil and see if there is any oil. If there is no oil on the dipstick, then the auto shop that performed the oil change did not put any oil in the engine. That would cause...

Blue smoke from tailpipe

Bluish tinted smoke from the exhaust means that there is an internal oil leak into the combustion chambers from the valve guides, valve stem oil seals and/or the piston rings. Cylinder compression can be tested to get an indication of...

my 2015 Corolla vibrates when accelerating at 20-23mph. I put it in the Toyota shop 3 times. They said its normal. :(. Is it norma

The vibration is not normal and probably reflects an imbalance in a rotating engine or transmission component. Once engine speed and gear, at the time of the vibration, is known, that might help to narrow the diagnostic and in a...

I have a 2000 toyota solara and when I'm driving it tends to have a grinding noise when the pedal is down but when I let go it stops sometimes at first it was doing it every now and then but it's doing it more often now, originally it was close to the wheel making me and everyone else I talked to think it's a wheel bearing but now it's moved closer to the transmission, and when I have someone look at it they can't hear anything, I need help soon because now I'm thinking it's more of a CV axle and it's pulling to right after having an alignment done, I don't want something that dangerous to break while I'm driving and end up in a ditch or another car
