Q: Trying to find the transmission code for a 1996 ford windstar

asked by on February 24, 2018

I cant find thr transmission code

My car has an automatic transmission.

Your vehicle uses the AX4S Ford transmission. Inasmuch as you have the 3.8L motor, your transaxle model number is PNA-WC. The Ford service part number for that transaxle is F68Z-7000-AARM. If you are having trouble with your transmission be sure not to install a used one and if you select a rebuilt be sure to determine what, if any, "updates" were installed by the rebuilder. The AX4S transmission was below average in reliability and consequently as problems came into view there were design updates and those updates should be incorporated during the transmission rebuilding process. If you are interested in a transmission replacement or rebuilding services, YourMechanic professionals in certain locales can assist with that. Please simply inquire based on your locale. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic.

My car won't go in reverse then when it do it stops suddenly in its tracks

my car make rattling noise ,feel like it stops and goes, while driving, and now displays "check engine"

Inasmuch as the check engine light has illuminated, diagnostic trouble codes have been stored in your car's engine computer (PCM) and those codes, once downloaded, will probably reveal at least the general cause of the problem you are having. If...

Brake lights are not working.

Check the turn signal switch and see if its sticking in place. A bad turn-signal switch may interrupt the brake light circuit and cause the brake lights to not function. Also a broken wire to or from the brake light...

Clutch/gearbox oil 2013 Chevrolet Spark

Hi there - your Spark clutch is a "dry" clutch, which is to say oil/grease are the last thing you want near the clutch friction surface. It does sound like yours is slipping, and may have gotten engine oil or...
