Q: Trunk not latching

asked by on February 29, 2016

The trunk won't close. It opens all the way up and closes, but doesn't latch. If I close it manually, it only pops back up again.

It sounds to me like the latching mechanism isn’t doing its job properly, probably requiring replacement. I would have a certified mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, verify the issue and replace the latch if necessary.

How low can my truck legally be like how high off the ground?
I have never heard of a legal limit for how low a vehicle can be (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-to-lower-a-vehicle-s-suspension-by-ed-ruelas). I would not recommend going below 6 inches for the lowest part of the suspension or you will not be able to go over...

I have a leak in the coolant system that I have narrowed to I believe is the water inlet tube off of the lower radiator hose.

Evap system leak
It sounds like you may have an evaporative emissions system leak.
