Hello Melinda. Nice to hear from you today! I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. I know this can be frustrating. I need a little more information to be able to assist better. When the vehicle was attempted to be jump-started were good high-quality jumper cables used? Were the battery cables checked at the battery for being loose or corroded at all? Was the vehicle battery tested to see if it is o.k.?

battery has not been taken in to be tested yet the cables were new no corrosion

Thank you for your reply and that information as this does help me better understand the situation. Please give me one moment to type out some info for you. I’ll be right back!

I thought it was a bad battery but it seems like the car will be on and the engine die if the car is not in motion or at least the accelerator pressed. The past few days it would start nearly immediately being jumped, but right now we tried jumping from a starter box and it wouldn't jump, but the engine kept clicking as if it were trying even after key was removed

Thank you for holding Melinda! The clicking noise can occur when there is a low voltage issue from the vehicle battery or alternator. In some cases, the battery can be fairly dead to where a jump start will not allow the engine to start and run. The first thing I recommend to do is to have the battery recharged on a battery charger and then tested to see if it is faulty. A local parts store can usually recharge and test it free of charge for you. The battery can act up intermittently with a dead or shorted cell to where one time it may start and run or jump start and run and the next it will not. I also recommend having the alternator tested to see if it is intermittently acting up. It also can act up to where intermittently it will not send out a charge signal to the battery which can cause this fault to occur. A parts store can test it free of charge as well. The low voltage can also cause the engine to stall out in some cases, your vehicle is run by electronics, and if a low voltage issue is occurring while driving or idling it can cause the engine to stall. It is also a good idea to have the engine starter tested to see if it is intermittently acting up.

The continued click after key was removed concerns me
Automotive Expert
The continued click is usually caused by low voltage or possibly a short in the vehicle starter. If you did not receive the answer I posted to your question above a couple of minutes ago let me know and I can post it again below for you to see it.

I saw it. I'll try that. Do I open a new request from the website after I get it tested if I have more questions, or just reply to this text?
