2010 [corolla](/topics-corolla/) electronic power steering seems to be not working as steering wheel is very stiff and car is hard to turn while driving Mechanic's Assistant: When was the fluid last checked? Have you heard any whining noises while turning the wheel? Electronic assistance steering does not use fluid and whining noises have not been present when turning the wheel Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Corolla yourself? What have you tried so far? Haven’t done much other than lift the car, trying to locate the electronic power steering unit now Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Good Afternoon, my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* ill be helping you, so sorry to hear about the issues here on the Corolla. You are correct you have electronic power steering. I would recommend we start with checking both the 60 amp EPS motor fuse in the fuse box under the dash. As well as the 10 amp ECU IG1 fuse in the fuse box under the left side of the dash. If both check out you will most likely be dealing with a bad motor/torque sensor assembly since that is what usually fails. You will find this assembly located on the steering column and it will not be visible from underneath the car
