Q: timing chain/belt

asked by on

timing chain/belt broke or came off

Hello, thank you for writing in. The timing belt can simply be replaced. With that being said, there needs to be some thought into why it broke. Depending on the age, it may have just been worn out. If there was excess strain, or a timing malfunction, there may be other issues going on with the engine. Often if the belt breaks at high speeds, it is possible for it to do damage to the other parts around it. There may be nothing to worry about, but these things should be in the back of your mind when replacing it. Keep an eye out for other signs of damages during the repair. For help replacing your timing belt, contact our service department to schedule an appointment.
