Q: Speedometer and fuel gauge faulty 1999 Toyota Corolla

asked by on

My car speedometer and fuel gauge are faulty

My car has 135000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi there - first thing to check is fuses for these gauges. Did they "fail" at the same time? If so, a blown fuse is likely. If not the sensors for each (both of which are electronic) are suspect. Bad ground connections, especially for the fuel gauge, can also be a problem. I recommend an electrical component inspection performed by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, and give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.
