Q: Shifter locking into neutral

asked by on

The shifter is stuck in neutral, though it can be forced into other gears. The transmission shifts properly when in drive or reverse, but when shifting to another gear, the shifter locks into neutral.

Hi, this problem comes up often. The switch gear may have broken off or has gotten stuck inside. The knob is easily removed by twisting the knob a quarter turn then pulling. If you cannot get the knob off I recommend getting a qualified mechanic to inspect your gear shifting issue.
