Q: replaced power steering pump now res overflows when cap is put on

asked by on January 31, 2018

replaced power steering pump no when I out the cap on the reservoir it foams and overflows but if the cap is off its fine
My car has an automatic transmission.

Anytime you replace the pump you will get air in the fluid and will need to let the engine idle for a few minutes and then let it sit with engine off for 5 minutes and repeat process until all the air is works out. If it keeps getting air in fluid after repeating process at least 5 times then the fluid reservoir will need to be removed and filter screen inside it cleaned out or reservoir replaced.

Belts squeal when starting, turning, and going in reverse.
This could be just a simple belt adjustment since you have multiple belts on your car. I do not see a belt issue when going into reverse but turning could be the power steering belt is loose. I would recommend...

My car just shut off while driving nd wont start bsk up dosent even crank over nothing at all turns on

Low power and rough running. Check engine light flashing but no codes at download.
This may be caused by a few different things such as dirty fuel injectors (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/fuel-injector-replacement), low fuel pressure or a dirty or failing mass air flow sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/mass-airflow-sensor-replacement). As you may know, dirty fuel injectors may cause intermittent fuel supply...
Smoke
Blue smoke coming from your exhaust (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/smoke-from-engine-or-exhaust-inspection) generally means that the motor is burning the engine oil. This can happen for a couple of different reasons such as worn piston rings or leaking valve guide seals. When this happens, the...
