Q: Problem with convertible top.

asked by on January 11, 2016

Convertible top not coming up.

On an electric convertible top system the usual causes for failure are the switch, the motor(s), or something broken causing a bind in the mechanics of the retractable top. It is easiest to start with a visual inspection of the top. If anything is obviously broken, this can cause the top not to come up or go down properly. If the top goes down fine but will not go up, the problem likely lies within the switch or the motor(s). Enlist the help of a YourMechanic technician to test your switch and motor(s) for proper function. Once the fault is found have it corrected and your top should be working fine again.
