I have a Pontiac torrent and it will shut off and immediately turn back on with me not doing anything Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your Torrent? 2008 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Torrent yourself? What have you tried so far? All I've done so far is look up info on line, my connection to my battery is good with no corrosion Mechanic's Assistant: Have you tested the battery with a voltmeter? And can you see if it's leaking or not? I've not tested it with a meter, it's not leaking Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? My stabilitrak light comes on when this happens as well

This is a problem with either the ignition switch or the PCM (powertrain control module). You'll have to do some electrical testing to see which one is the culprit by checking the cranking signal to the PCM from the ignition switch. The most common problem is a faulty ignition switch. My goal is to give you the best service possible and to help you. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Timing chain problem should I replace the motor because of the mileage
Hello. I would go with the option that makes the most sense in terms of cost efficiency. In some cases replacing the engine entirely is actually less expensive then rebuilding or servicing a major component. The 4.0 V6 that your...

Glow plug warning light even after changing glow plugs
The glow plug warning light doesn't necessarily mean the car needs glow plugs. The engine control unit turns on the light to alert you that it has detected a fault in some component of the system, not just the glow...
Car doesn't move at all when iI engage the gear in both drive and reverse, rather shows W on the dashboard for gear position 2001 Volvo S80
Hi there - the "W" displayed on the instrument cluster means that "Winter mode (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/what-does-the-winter-mode-indicator-light-mean-by-spencer-cates)" is selected. This means that 2nd or even 3rd gear starts are invoked (rather than 1st) in order to get away from a dead stop...
My 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan was hit head on, totaling both vehicles. My airbags did not deploy. Can you tell me why?
Hi there. To be honest, there is no way we can tell you why the air bags on your Grand Caravan did not deploy. In some cases, the air bag sensors are damaged due to corrosion or other electrical faults....
When the engine is placed under load it backfires and dies.
This may be a sign of a faulty MAP sensor as the vehicle responds adversely to a load put on the motor (i.e. putting it in gear, making turns (which makes use of the power steering pressure switch) turning on...
We have a 2007 Honda CRV - new battery installed. While driving seeing sporadic light surge on Dash. Thoughts?
If you just had battery replaced due to it going dead then you may have a charging system problem if light is coming on. Have the charging system checked to see if you need an alternator or have another problem....
