If you are referring to the electrical solenoid within the injector, like any electrical part it can fail due to degradation of the insulation, wire breaks and so forth. The injector can be tested while still on the car and if indeed it has failed you can request fuel injector replacement and the responding certified mechanic will make all necessary repairs. If one injector is replaced, for best results in terms of cylinder balancing, the other three injectors should be removed from the fuel rail and sent a lab such as Mr. Injector for cleaning, replacement of the tiny internal filter baskets, and verification. Serving all the injectors and replacing the internal injector filters at the same time will promote a smooth running, more efficient engine and that helps to avoid future problems. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.
