Q: My car just recently started shaking and trembling and then the car just shuts off and the brakes become hard to press 20004runner

When I stop at a red light or dont go above like 10mph my SUV starts shaking vigorously and if i dont apply acceleration the car will stall out. This started a couple days ago. I changed out my brake booster check valve and that did not fix the issue. Help would be appreciated thanks.

My car has 192000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

You should have brake boost for a few moments after the engine vacuum drops off. Changing the brake booster check valve should have helped that unless there is a leak in the booster. A leak in the booster will introduce an air leak into the engine and make it idle poorly. So that might be a good place to look for trouble. Also check anywhere else in the engine compartment for air hoses that are in bad condition or are fitting poorly. If you want to farm this job out, contact YourMechanic. they can send a technician to your home or office to check out your 4Runner and let you know what it is going to take to fix it.

I have to replace my IAC valve myself but don't know how to go about it.

My car won't move when i press the gas pedal i have never had a problem before. I did notice a leak but i thought it was the oil from the transmission.

Front end problems and I am a basic car mechanic. I do the easy work. I worked at a Toyota Dealership for a few years and never encountered this problem.

Car makes whirring noise and car doesn't start.

I would have the battery tested by a certified technician such as one from Your Mechanic. It sounds like the battery may be dead but they also need to determine if the charging system is working correctly.

What happens if I don't replace knock sensor?

The knock sensor on the engine is there to detect for an engine noise from pre ignition (pining) normally. This is so the computer can advance the ignition timing to the maximum it can without the engine pinging. This gives...
