Q: my 98 ford taurus is overheating and revs up to 3rpms or higher and the speedometer stops working, what is the problem?

While driving my speedometer will stop working and it will rev up to at least 3rpms and it doesnt want to drive, it feels like it isnt shifting into gear, and it gets hot, why is this happening?
