Q: Miss Fire Cylinder 4

asked by on January 23, 2017

I know I have the infamous Vulcan 3.0 V6 Ford Engine with possible bad exhaust valves. However let me explain my symptoms and why I think its something else( or at least i hope so). I am getting a check engine light for P0304 and sometimes P0316 in combination. Which is Miss fire on Cylinder 4 and miss fire on startup first 1000 revolutions. When the car starts it starts and idles absolutely perfect and smooth. As i drive it and get it up to operating temp it starts to shake slightly at about 700 RPM's while idling. If i ever so slightly reeve the engine to about 950 RPM I can feel the engine shake a little less. If i go to 1500 RPM it runs perfect with zero shaking(so smooth you cant tell the engine is running). It drives and shifts perfect and does not have a loss of power. The longer the Engine runs and get warmer the more it shakes at idle. newplugs and wires within last 100 miles. Engine does not tick, etc I suspect possibly a plugged fuel injector? or fuel system issue.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Transmission is shifting poorly, what’s causing this?
It is possible that this is a sign of impending catastrophic failure but not a guarantee. First, check to see if your vehicle is leaking any fluid and if so, verify the type of fluid. If you find a leak...
How do I turn the windshield wipers on and off?

I hear a clicking sound when I turn left.
It sounds like you may have a bad cv joint. I would recommend having a YourMechanic technician come out and diagnose the clicking noise (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/loud-clicking-noise-when-i-turn-the-car-inspection) and they can install a new cv joint one as well if that is in...
How do I use the radio presets?

Popped a belt in the transmission
The transmission does not have belts. It does have internal metal bands. These bands hold clutch drums to get the different gears to engage. If the band breaks, the transmission will feel like it went into neutral or park. Transmission...
My engine is vibrating and making a knocking sound at idle, which grows intensely when I accelerate but it all goes away at times
This seems to be a torque converter issue. The bolts are probably loose between the converter and the flex plate. To get to the torque converter bolts, you will need to remove the starter from the engine and then you...
My car shuts off when I turn on the light or even the turn signals please help need this car to get to work
Hi there. This type of electrical glitch can be very difficult to pinpoint or diagnose without a physical inspection. However, in general, the most common causes of this issue is an exposed electrical wire within the ignition system. It is...
v6 vq35 engine is making a Squeaky sound?
Usually squeaking noises are associated with the drive belt. I was unable to access the You tube Video that you tried to link, but I'll speculate that you are hearing a slipping serpentine belt. If the automatic tensioner has started...
Which type of oil is best used for Chevy Malibu LS
Your recommended oil is 5w20 or 0w20 in winter. Your recommended oil type is Delco dexos 1 synthetic blend. I would recommend going to a full synthetic oil using the recommended weight oils 5w20 or 0w20. The full synthetic oil...
