Q: is it possible to tamper digital odometer readings?

asked by on November 20, 2016

I am planning to buy a KTM duke 200 2015 march model. It has ran only 4900 Kms. I am suspicious and i think the digital odometer is been tampered. So is it possible for local dealers to tamper the digital odometers?

My car has 20 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.

Hello. On this vehicle it is not typically possible to adjust the mileage reading on the dash. If the instrument panel was replaced then that would contain a new mileage read out but the vehicles on board computer would always contain the true mileage. If you had any questions about the mileage you can take it to any dealer that can scan the computer to verify the mileage on the vehicle.

My car shows the check engine light, the computer showed code P0455, and it shakes and vibrates at stops and during acceleration.

First, remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the code P0455, and drive the vehicle for a few days and see if the code comes back. If the code comes back on, then either the gas cap needs replaced...

No start without starting fluid.

Hi there. As long as your fuel pressure is at or above 50 psi then the fuel system should not be the issue. Most of the time this is caused by a bad crankshaft position sensor. This sensor will stop...

Head gaskets

The majority of the top end of the motor will in fact need to come apart in order to replace head gaskets. However, this would not necessarily be true for replacing only the timing belt.

The CAR does not crank or start

Your are correct in beginning with the battery, but unfortunately in this case it didn't fix your problem. In the future I recommend having the battery thoroughly tested before replacing it. At least now you know you have a good...
