Q: Idles high

asked by on

It idles at 5 rpm while standing

My car has 30000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi There, There are a number of things that may cause high engine idle. A vacuum leak can cause an engine to idle high due to the excessive amount of air flow into the fuel injection system. Other common failures that can cause a high idle speed are faulty idle speed control motors or faulty idle control valves. I would suggest having a professional from YourMechamic come to your location to diagnose and inspect your vehicle.
