Car won't start but all the lights and radio are on. Tried to jump it had a clicking sound but didn't start up still. Maybe not enough charge to battery? The cables were also connected wromg the first time by person helping me and sparks and small fire on rubber started. Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fuse? Just tried to jump the battery but not 100% sure it was connected properly. Before starting the jump got no noise after a few jumps its clicked but still didn't turn over. Maybe was on for 2 mind though Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Just that I'm not 100% sure it was correctly hooked up the jumping cables

Hi! My name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I will be able to assist you. I’m sorry that you’re having trouble with your vehicle. Don’t worry though, we’ll be able to figure this out. Please understand that I do not know your knowledge or capabilities so I **may** need to ask questions to find out basic information to help solve your specific problem. Sometimes it may take a moment for me to respond because I may have to look up information about your concern. I appreciate your patience and will provide responses as soon as possible. IF the cables were connected backwards then you will have blown some fuses. You'll need to check the 120 amp fusible link in the under hood fuse box. That is most likely the problem. You will need to check ALL of the fuses though because there may be some other blown fuses. My goal is to earn a 5 star rating experience. I hope that I have given you the information you needed. If you have any further questions about this concern, please feel free to reply back to me. If I’m not online at the time, I will respond ASAP when I get back. Thanks for being awesome and thank you for using JustAnswer!

Ok I'm not at the vehicle right now so ill have to check later. If it is the fuses will I still need to jump it after ot just change the fuses?

If the battery is low (which it sounds like it is) then yes you will have to either jump it or recharge/replace the battery to get it to start.

Ok. So think it was originally the battery but because of the little accidentally putting on wrong charger and causing some sparks and a little bit of rubber on fire that burn out the fuseDo you think its better to replace the battery all together since we did spark it
Automotive Expert
You would have to test it to see if it's bad. I would have it recharged and tested before you replace it.

Ok ok. But since the cable were on wrong most likely blew a fuse too? It did click when we tried to start it after we charged it correctly but I think it wasn't in long enough to fully turn over. Everything was on though. Radio, lights, the dash symbols
Automotive Expert
Yes the fuse is going to be blown since the cables were not connected properly. You will have to replace the fuse(s) and recharge/test the battery to get it going again.

Ok thx. It sounded like a battery issue but my partner thought maybe [alternator](/topics-alternator-hyundai/) too but then nothing would be on correct?
Automotive Expert
The alternator would have to be tested when you have replaced the fuses and have the battery sorted out because the engine has to be running to test it. I don't think you have an alternator issue unless you were seeing a battery/charging light on before this happened. I think it's just a battery issue.

Thank you. No i.didnt have a warning light at all.
Automotive Expert
You're very welcome. Ok then I think it's just a battery issue.

I'll get some fuses and try to re jump and see if that works
Automotive Expert
Ok sounds good.
