Q: Hydraulic cylinder for hard top leaking

asked by on

The hydraulic cylinder for the hard top is leaking.

This is common for hard top and soft top convertibles. Over time, the cup seals in the cylinders get hard and brittle. When this happens they start leaking. Some of the cylinders can be repaired by replacing the cup seals, but others need to be replaced. A mechanic will be able to diagnose the leak and determine whether the cylinder is rebuildable or simply needs replacement.
