How do I remove the intermediate steering shaft from the lower steering shaft to remove and install starter on 2006 Chrysler 300 limited 3.5 ?
My car has 102000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
You may want to remove the drivers side steering rack and pinion mount bolt and pull down the rack to gain access to remove starter better. To get the intermediate shaft loose you should lock steering straight ahead and secure steering wheel from moving. Just above catalyst remove shaft pinch bolt and pull top shaft up and out of lower shaft. It will slide up and put lower shaft to the side and then starter can be removed after rack bolt is removed for access to starter. You do not need to take steering shaft all the way out and only need to disconnect the two shafts.
