Just curious :)
My car has an automatic transmission.
The airbag wiring harness has several sections. So it shouldn’t be necessary to replace everything except in the most extreme conditions. There is a section in the column that has a spring like winding, and I think two other sub harnesses involving the seat belt retractors. Unfortunately, they can be pretty expensive. Not because the parts are so sophisticated, but because there is huge liability associated with its performance. So it’s like an aircraft part, it is subjected to fat more scrutiny than other automotive parts and the cost reflects that. If you have a problem with your airbag system, you can find out just what pieces need to be replaced by having your Mechanic send a technician to your home or office. They can check out your airbag system and tell you just what it will take to solve your problem.
