As you may have already learned, the code p0017 indicates an issue with the crankshaft position sensor. This would mean that that transmission doesn’t understand the speed and can’t send the same information to the transmission. I don’t think your car needs a new engine just based on this code alone. With all the repairs that you’ve done, it’s possible that the ECM is faulty and is producing the code. I recommend having a professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, reset the codes and inspect the Check Engine Light thoroughly in order to make a proper diagnosis.

many powertrain cylinder misfire error codes!!!!!
Hi there. From the description you have given, there are multiple concern that require diagnoses. Most importantly are why the engine has misfires and cooling fans inoperative. Sounds as if the car is not going into gear. I have RPM reading odometer, not sure what it should be reading when driving on freeway.
Hello and thank you for contacting YourMechanic. Watch the tachometer (rpm gauge) (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/3-essential-things-to-know-about-your-car-s-tachometer) as the vehicle is in motion. When driving, you should see the tachometer go up and then go down a little when the transmission shifts gears. For...

I got a code for my EVAP (P1457)
