I have an 07 Ford explorer and I changed the fuel pump and driver module but fuel pump driver module getting power but no power to the pump Mechanic's Assistant: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate? Consistent I get power to the fuel pump module but nothing out of it Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Explorer yourself? What have you tried so far? I already told u that I replaced everything myself Mechanic's Assistant: Sorry about that. I must have missed it. Could you tell me again? I replaced the pump and the driver module... I'm getting power to the module but nothing out of the new one Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Nope that's it

Hi, my name is\*\*\*\*\*’ve been a technician on Just Answer since 2007 and I'll be helping you today. I'm sorry to hear you are having difficulties with your vehicle. I know how inconvenient car trouble is, but together, we will get your vehicle back up and running quickly. May I ask whom I am chatting with today?

Hi Dustin, it's nice to meet you. 4.0 or 4.6 [engine](/topics-engine-ford/)?

Thanks, \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* moment to pull up the wiring diagram. Thanks for holding, are you seeing anything on the yellow/orange striped wire and the brown and white striped wires at all?

There is a purple and white wire or purple and green wire I'm not with the vehicle at this moment that has power into the module but there is a yellow and green wire that feeds to the pump just outside the module it's not getting power
Automotive Expert
Well, it's controlled by the PCM on the other 2 wires, so if the PCM isn't turning it on, then you may have some other issue preventing it from sending power to the fuel pump. Maybe a security issue for example or a faulty cam or crank sensor. If you haven't tried a new module or if the old module acted the same way, then you need to try and determine what is keeping the computer from turning the module on.

Ok thank you
Automotive Expert
You're welcome, please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you with this.

How do I check the PCM
Automotive Expert
The only way to actually check it is to eliminate everything else. Make sure it's getting power, check that the light comes on when you turn the key on. Make sure you don't have any broken wires from it to the driver module. Sadly there aren't really any codes that just show up saying it's no good.

What light am I looking for?The driver module has powerJust no power from it
Automotive Expert
The check engine light, you want to make sure it's coming on. Check the security light, if it's flashing fast, then you have a security issue, especially if it's not turning off when you have the key on. Have you tried a second FPDM tto confirm you didn't get a bad one?

Check engine light isn't on long it flashes and goes away I have no codes eitherI'm getting a different one tomorrow morning
Automotive Expert
Ok, and the security light is going out? If it is, then I would say the next step is either trying a different FPDM or doing a countinuity check on the other wires from the module to the computer.

I didn't think to look at the security light I will do that tomorrow as well
Automotive Expert
Ok, sounds good. I will be on tomorrow, let me know what you find. You can just reply here.

New driver module but still no power through it
Automotive Expert
Ok, then your next step has to be checking for any life in the other wires, the ones I mentioned yesterday, check them for continuity for the FPDM to the PCM to make sure you don't have a broken signal wire.

OkHow do I check the continuity with a volt meter

Then, unplug the computer and the FPDM, next, add a 12 volt power wire to the wires you are testing, one at a time. If you add 12 volts at the wire in the computer harness connector, you can then just go check for 12 volts on that wire at the FPDM. Remember to disconnect both or you will damage the electronics. Do the same for the second wire, if you aren't getting the 12 volts, then the wire is broken along the way. If you are, on both, I am going to have to suggest computer replacement if you don't have any codes.
