02 Excursion, the gauge cluster is not no speedo, tach, oil, fuel, [coolant](/topics-coolant-ford/) gauge plus my overdrive and fog lights do not work everything else works just fine??? Mechanic's Assistant: Does the light flash or stay on steady? Do you happen to have the trouble code? No warning lights and no codes Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Excursion yourself? What have you tried so far? Yes I am and I have looked at the fuses Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Not at this time

Okay
Automotive Expert
Can I start by getting the VIN and any stored codes in the computer?

I’m currently not with the truck but there are no codes
Automotive Expert
Ok no problem. What size [engine](/topics-engine-ford/) do you have?

6.8 V10
Automotive Expert
Ok thank you. Lets go after one thing at a time. Which one would you like to start with?

What do you mean
Automotive Expert
You said "the gauge cluster is not no speedo, tach, oil, fuel, coolant gauge plus my overdrive and fog lights do not work "

what do we need to start with
Automotive Expert
I would like to know which problem you would like to address first?

My gauges aren't working
Automotive Expert
Sounds good. Is this problem constant or intermittent?

Constant
Automotive Expert
Ok and the [alternator](/topics-alternator-ford/) is charging when the engine is running?

I guess so, the whole truck hasn't died in two days
Automotive Expert
Ok got it, thank you. Fuse 45 in the central junction box (inside the vehicle) powers up the overdrive cancel switch. If you are SURE this fuse is good, remove the steering column covers to access the wiring for the Overdrive cancel switch in the end of the shift lever. Inspect the wiring for any signs that the wiring could intermittently short out. Repair the wiring or replace the shift lever as needed and recheck operation. If that checks out good and you are SURE the other fuses are good, you could have a bad instrument cluster. You would need to remove the instrument cluster and check all powers and grounds going to the cluster with the key on. By the way, fuse 43 also powers up the fog lamp circuit

I will try that thank you for your time

Still needing help
Automotive Expert
I can help

First do you still need the vin??
Automotive Expert
That would be great

Stand by1FMNU43S22EB96930I still have the same issue
Automotive Expert
OK so what are we fine we ran the test above?

I did replace the OD switch and check fuse 43 still nothing
Automotive Expert
OK does this fuse to blow? Did you check or replace the harness?

No fuses blown and the wiring harness from the OD button to the plug in yes I did replace but not from plug to where they go
Automotive Expert
OK have you checked the inputs to the instrument cluster like I mentioned above?

I have not but how is that tied into the fog lights and OD switch??
Automotive Expert
I do believe it gets powered up by the same circuit the other components do. You may wanna either remove the cluster and check the inputs on that wire coming from the fuse 43 or check the overdrive switch for power.

Okay that will take some time and out of curiosity what does relay 306 do??
Automotive Expert
Unfortunately I cannot look it up by the number. I will need to know what circuit it powers up in order to pull wire diagram

Automotive Expert
That relay powers up your power windows and some other components

Okay, looks like I have some work to do so thank you for your time again
Automotive Expert
You bet! You're welcome

I got code P0016 and P0008. I just want to know what caused the problem and which one is bank 1 sensor A?
Hello, this problem (both codes apply to the same problem) relates to a calculated "bad timing correlation" between the crankshaft and the exhaust camshaft for cylinder 1 (cylinder head at front of the car). Engine management has tolerances for the...
There is a vibration in the front driver's side of the truck at 38-45 mph
Good diagnostic work! You've narrowed it to a specific speed range, not torque sensitive, and to a specific corner of the vehicle. I suspect an "out-of-round" tire that happens to be sensitive at 38-45 mph as you note. Beyond that,...
