Q: Engine light still on after replacing the gas cap

asked by on May 19, 2016

My problem seems kind of bizarre, I admit, but when I take off my gas cap, my engine warning light comes on. What in the world is causing this?

This is a simple fix. Replace the fuel cap. The cap sometimes does not reseal after refueling causing the system to detect a leak. Make sure the cap is sealing after you refuel and make sure the vehicle is turned off also. Once the cap is replaced then the Check Engine Light will need to be turned off.
