Q: Coolant leak on 2005 Audi A4 2.0L petrol but no engine overheating

asked by on January 15, 2018

I’m enquiring about a problem with my Audi A4 2005 sedan 2.0L Recently bought it and coolant warning flash went off soon after so I went and bought some premix Nulon coolant that’s suppose to be good with any car from Supercheap Auto, let the engine cool down and put the coolant in. I Started up the car and let it sit for about 3-5mins with the AC on and the warning light flashed again. Checked the bottom of the car and all the coolant was on the floor with a minimal amount left in the actual tank. Drove it home (1hr trip) and the warning light came on about 3 times only after slowing down or coming to a complete stop at a light but it would only last for a minute or two. No overheating occurred and the temp on the dash was better than average. No smoke. No weird noises. What would be the best option from here?

Kind regards

My car has an automatic transmission.

You will need to have the cooling system pressure tested to locate the leak. You may have a water pump leaking or a hose that is leaking.

Car won't go in reverse and died.
Your transmission is electronically controlled, a very likely cause that would prevent the transmission from shifting into reverse and then prevent the vehicle from starting is the transmission range switch. My recommendation is to have a mechanic, such as one...

This is a very broad question with little information to go on. The most common causes of overheating are low coolant or the engine cooling fan clutch since your car has a mechanical fan. More information would be required to...

A common failure for your vehicle is that the outside door handle will break. When this happens, the door will not open from the outside, as you are describing. I would ask for assistance from one of the mechanics at...
My car has a misfire, poor acceleration, and poor fuel burn (all the coils are good)
Hello and thanks for your question. Check the condition of the spark plugs (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/spark-plugs-replacement) to see if they are fouled out. If the spark plugs are in good shape, then unplug one injector at a time from the harness while...
When accelerating from stop, rear end hops.
Hi there. Check the suspension and shocks on the rear of the vehicle. If the suspension (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/brakes-steering-and-suspension-inspection) is loose or the shocks (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/shock-absorber-replacement) are worn, then the axle will move around or bounce and keep the tires from being in...
P0732 p0734 p0744 is there one solution to these 3 codes?
As you know, code P0744 relates to the torque converter and the "lockup" function that locks the transmission into a fixed gear at a certain point based upon certain metrics and inputs. When the required amount of lockup is not...
