Sure thing, have you checked the fuses? Have you tried using another key?

We hhave checked all fuses. Changed the fuse box to new one. We got a new ignition for it cause the old one was messed up anyways and ive tried all the resets for security and same thing. The light never blinks it stays lit up. If u cross it over under truck on starter it will crank but wont start but by key its dead and dims lights when u try to crank

So the ignition switch was replaced? What about the key? Did you replace the theft deterrent module?

No we didnt replace the module just the key and ignition but it was doing this before we changed key. I'm thinking its security deterent myself

Ok if the fuses are good and all computers on board the vehicle are communicating, the most likely issue would be the theft deterrent module. I will attach the procedure for you below. One moment please

Does it have to be replaced or just reprogrammed? We have scanners and stuff. If its that what code will it give us?

Codes in the computer might help you narrow down the root cause. You can try programming it if you have the right scanner, but it still may need to be replaced and then programmed.

If you get the codes in any of the modules using your scan tools, simply reply back to me with the code or codes and I will continue to assist you. If it turns out one or more of the modules are not communicating, you need to check all powers and grounds going into each module that is not communicating and replace as needed. Thank u so much. I'll be back with u once we try this. I may just replace BCM then program cause its been giving us problems before this like lights wouldnt go off we had to unplug battery every time we turned it off.

Sounds good, you are most welcome! In some cases the modules lock up preventing the [engine](/topics-engine-chevy/) from cranking over. This does happen from time to time and can easily be remedied by doing a quick battery disconnect procedure. You're gonna have to be sure to disconnect both cables from the battery and rub the cables together for about 5 minutes. Then reconnect them back up to the battery and then try to start the vehicle. You may get lucky as this might just do the trick. This will discharge all the capacitors inside all of the modules on board the vehicle including both engine control module in the body control module and may allow it to start and run. This is also known as or referred to logic lock. However, this will ONLY work if the issue is a locked up module. If the module is bad or if the problem is not a locked up module it will not work. However, it would be worth a try.

Those aren’t codes. Those are test ID and component ID. Those are just used by the engineers. It’s just software information that you’ll never figure out unless your a Chevy computer programmer.
