Q: Car will not move when I put it into gear!!

asked by on December 13, 2016

I started my car up and I put it into drive and heard like a popping noise by the driver tire thought like my breaks was sticking. I put it into drive and I hear a loud popping noise then the car was acting like I was dragging something. All the noise was behind the driver side tire! I messed with it by turning the tires and didn't hear anything than once I put it into gear again it started to act up . I was able to get it to my house but now when I put in into drive or any gear it will not move. It will rev up but no go then once I put it into park . I can hear a grinding noise only when i put it into park . but the grinding noise goes away after rpm went down!!!

My car has 38000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hello. There is no time frame to change these parts on your vehicle. The timing chain is not a wear part and the water pump only gets changed when it is leaking. Most of these water pumps last about 100,000...
