Ok thank you for the information. It sounds like it may be a coolant temperature sensor failure or a thermostat. To be sure the car needs to be scanned. I see you are letting the car cool off before you drive again. Did you notice any power loss? Or excessive heat coming out from under the hood when you opened it?

Nope none of the above I think it's the temp gauge as it didn't move I drove it home just doing 50 km per hrIt is running fine and there's heat in the car
Automotive Expert
Ok, sounds like a temperature sensor issue since the check engine light is on. Do you have access to a code scanner?

No but I'm gonna drive it into the garage tomorrow morning.... I'll go slow again

Ok good. Any signs of coolant leaks?

I do have a leak I think but there's lots of coolant in the tank
Automotive Expert
Ok. Make sure u get it checked tomorrow. The leak could be causing an air pocket right at the sensor. And that can cause the gauge to not read. The housing where the coolant temp sensor sits, is a common failure for leaks im the cruze.

Okay thanks for your help, I can drive it in tomorrow tho
Automotive Expert
Your welcome. Make sure you top off your coolant before you drive there. And only top off when the car is cold so you do not burn yourself. Is there anything else i can help you with tonight?

No thank you, \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* great night thx for your help

Ok great! Your welcome. hope you have a good night and thank you for allowing me to assist you. If you have any other questions in the future you may request me. Thank you again, Zach
