Hi, my name is\*\*\*\*\*’ve been a technician on Just Answer since 2007 and I'll be helping you today. I'm sorry to hear you are having difficulties with your vehicle. I know how inconvenient car trouble is, but together, we will get your vehicle back up and running quickly. May I ask whom I am chatting with today?

HI Denise, it's nice to meet you. Will the car restart or not?

I have to give it a lot of gas. Also I should mention that this only happens when my car is working temperature. If that helps at all

Ok, thank you. Is the check engine light also coming on when all this is happening?

It was and the code was car running lean in bank one. We fixed that and the light is off and shows no other cods at all. Then this happen out of the blue.

Ok It's possible the issue is with the mass airflow sensor. When you have the car warmed up, and it's going to have the running issue, try unplugging the mass airflow sensor and see if the car will start and idle on its own. If it will, then replace the sensor. If not, then I would try cleaning the throttle body and see if that helps. Please try these things and let me know. Thank you.

We put in a new mas air flow sensor.

Ok, was this done to resolve your lean fuel mix code? If the car didn't do this prior, then you should still run the test.

it didn't fix the problem. Then we also put in something l think called vacuum solenoid that's what fixed the code. There were no other codes.then the next day all this happened. Tested for a code again and no codes came up

Ok I would still like you to try the maf test for me. If that doesn't change anything, then try removing the upstream O2 sensor ahead of the catalytic converter. Take it right out so there is an open hole in the pipe, fire the car up, and see if it will idle on its own. It's going to be loud, but still, if it will idle, that means the converter is plugging up as the engine is heating up.

We also replaced the O2 sensorDo to the running lean problem
Automotive Expert
I want you to remove it from the exhaust, don't just unplug it. It's not the issue, I am using this test to make sure the catalytic converter isn't pluggin up as it heats up.

Ok i will be able to do that tonight. Thax for your advice.

You're welcome, try it out, then post the results here. I will get them and if I am not online, I will get them as soon as I am.
