Hello and thank you for using JustAnswer. My name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I will do my best to assist you. During this conversation you will be given an automated offer for a phone call. Please understand that I do not know your knowledge or capabilities so I may need to ask questions to find out basic information to help solve your specific problem. My aim is to give you the best service possible and to help you. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Sometimes it may take a moment for me to respond because I may have to look up information about your concern. I appreciate your patience and will provide responses as soon as possible. The function of the crankshaft position sensor is to determine the position and/or rotational speed (RPM) of the crank. The [engine](/topics-engine/) control module uses the information transmitted by the sensor to control parameters such as ignition timing and fuel injection timing. So it does not directly affect shift parameters. It can make it stall out and sputter or run poorly. These symptoms can make it seem that there is a shifting issue. Thanks for using Just Answer and letting me help you. I hope I provided what you needed. If you find more help is still needed, let me know by listing out any remaining questions you have on this concern. I hope the remainder of your day is well.

What are causes it makes shift slowIf I step on gas slow it gets gears slowly but it does if I put foot more in I'll hear grinding
Automotive Expert
HI, Low fluid level, direct clutches worn, mechatronics unit, fluid pump, torque converter clutch, or other internal failure. The grinding is pretty indicative of internal failure

Ok thanx
Automotive Expert
you are welcome and always happy to help out

I changed the sensor once it was doing the same and it worked can it be the same again
Automotive Expert
HI, It can. I would make sure to use a BMW sensor.

What u think of duralast and or dormanDuralast I used
Automotive Expert
HI, they are good for some domestic vehicles, but not for european vehicles.

I have this codes p0420 p0430 and p0155 only

Hi u still there is it ok for crank shaft sensor to have oil?
Automotive Expert
HI, Sorry, I dont stay up late. The P0420 and P0430 are for the catalytic converters. The P0155 is bank2 sensor1 O2 sensor. yes, the sensor will occasionally have oil on it.

One more thing I can see leaking from transmission oil pan but transmission oil reservoir level never goes down it's been leaking for a long time nowthanks for answering
Automotive Expert
HI, could be the transmission fluid was over filled last time it was serviced, or if it is a slow leak of only a few drips daily, it can take months and months before it leaks it enough for the level to drop noticably.

Can that be the reason y gears slip
Automotive Expert
yes it can

Thank you
Automotive Expert
you are welcome
