Your battery light coming on may mean a few things such as a weak battery, a failing alternator, or a failing voltage regulator. This may be a sign of a failing voltage regulator or failing alternator. As you may know, the alternator is responsible for charging the battery while the engine runs by generating amperage and recharging the battery while the engine turns the alternator. The voltage regulator is a unit that regulates the charging of the battery by the alternator.

Often, this will result in the alternator allowing too much power to be delivered to the battery, damaging wires and prematurely destroying the battery. In other cases, it may result in the alternator not supplying enough power to the battery, undercharging the battery or not charging it at all. In either case, I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose your vehicle’s charging system and suggest the necessary repairs.

The car slides when driven on bumpy roads
Hello. If the vehicle has aftermarket wheels on it then they may have the wrong offset which will cause this. If the wheels are original then the rear suspension needs to be checked for worn parts. If the suspension is...
differential noise
The most common noise that matches that description would be a worn wheel bearing (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/wheel-bearings-replacement). Your car is front wheel drive. How to tell the ignition coil is bad or good? Lexus
Hi there - basic testing of ignition coils (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-to-test-a-spark-plug-ignition-coil-by-eduardo-ruelas) can be done with a volt meter, checking for shorts or a specified level of resistance (measured in ohms) in the coil windings. Failing coils require an oscilloscope (or similar testing...
Why does my car "skip" when I accelerate from a complete stop
Hi there. Typically when an engine 'skips' it is due to an ignition misfire. All combustion engines have a firing order in which each cylinder is designed to complete the combustion process in a certain order. The "skip" occurs when...
My cars ac only blows out through the defroster vents not the other vents I play with all the buttons but it doesn't work.
Hi There, It sounds like you may have a faulty blend door actuator. Inside your vehicle's vent system, there are small doors that open and close to change the flow of air running through the system. These doors are operated...
Car shakes past 70 mph, but only when given gas
Faulty motor mounts are a possibility but suspension faults, such as worn struts, can also cause shaking at high speed. If the problem is suspension related, it may occur during acceleration versus coasting because during acceleration the suspension geometry (running...
