Q: AC not coming on

asked by on January 22, 2016

The AC is not coming on. I replaced the blower and was told the AC computer needs to be reset. In addition, the driver's seatbelt won't retract.

I couldn’t find any information on resetting the module. Usually they continually check for faults every key cycle. After a repair it should reset itself. However, I did find that in several cases that the blower motor and the blower resistor module were replaced together. As for the seat belt, there is a pendulum that senses forward and backward movement that locks the belt. It may be stuck. Check for twists in the belt behind the trim panel. It might just be a worn out or broken return spring. In any case, the seat belt assembly will need replaced. Difficult startup, low battery voltage, no oil pressure with windows, sunroof and locks malfunctioning
If the battery tested good, then I would suspect a problem with the alternator (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-alternator). The battery is basically just an electronic storage device that must be charged regularly by the alternator. In addition, there are a couple dozen modules...
Misfire, mechanic wants to replace whole cylinder
I suggest getting a second opinion. I would get a quote to replace the entire engine with a remanufactured one (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/what-are-the-benefits-of-having-an-engine-rebuilt-instead-of-replaced). You will pay less in labor but more in parts. This way you will have a new motor, not...
Can a collision in the front of my car cause a mass air flow sensor to malfunction? I need to make a claim for the insurance.

It's runs really bad upon start up, but if allowed to idle for 30-45 min it will run perfectly.

What could cause a popping noice when I hit the breaks?
The noise could be caused by too much rotor runout, the rotors might have thickness variation, brake parts could be loose (improperly torqued), and/or bushings could be worn. If you request a vehicle noise diagnostic - brake noise (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-is-making-a-noise-inspection), the...
