Q: A/c blowing hot air before clicking and blowing out cold

asked by on August 01, 2017

My truck sometimes will start off by blowing hot air as though I have on the heater at the highest level for a while until there's a click and a sound that can only be described as a rolling ball, then it begins to cool down. It doesn't happen every time I start my truck but it does do it more times than not. Any clue as to what this is and about how much it would be to fix? It's never had this problem before though a couple of years ago I did have to change the evaporator coil but other than that my a/c has never given me any trouble until now.

My car has 271000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
