Q: #3 Misfire engine light

asked by on August 08, 2016

My Hummer is running fine, but the service engine light comes on and then off. The service engine code appears showing #3 Misfire. I have brought my car to several dealerships and the mechanics state there is only the #3 misfire. Is this possibly an electrical problem?

If the cat monitor will not finish and pass after multiple tries then you may have a weak sensor or a catalyst (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-catalytic-converter) that is bad. I'd suggest having the vehicle scanned to test the O2 sensors for slow or...

Misfire - 2003 BMW 320i

Without knowing those codes, telling you...

No compression but spark is there, fuel goes good. What is happening? The car only cranks and doesn't start.
Hi there, thanks for writing in. Unfortunately, if there is no compression, you have internal engine failure. This could be piston ring failure. Generally, a used engine would be the order for the repair as the cylinder walls could be...
