Peter came out and diagnosed my problem very quickly. He actually found a loose bolt that was making the rattling noise and was able to remove it. Peter is such a great person and awesome mechanic. Brian was very technical. Very patient meticulous and soft spoken. He just doesn't fix your car, but educates you at the same time. Very pleased with his service. Made sure the work place was clean of any debris before he left. Thank you Brian!

Answers to common Subaru XV Crosstrek questions

Q: High RPMs on a 4-cylinder engine
Answered by Mia
Your vehicle redlines at 6,600 RPM. If you have an automatic transmission in your vehicle, don't worry. A properly operating automatic transmission (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-an-automatic-transmission-works) is designed to keep your engine in the correct operating range. The transmission control module will adjust...
Q: ABS light blinks when the car is turned off
Answered by Mia
This is odd, since generally the ABS light (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/abs-light-is-on-inspection) should come on for a few seconds with the ignition ON. My suggestion is to have the system scanned for diagnostic trouble codes which serve as a starting point for further...
Q: Transmission damage
Answered by Mia
If you have a manual transmission this shouldn't matter - both the transmission and rear differential take 75W-90 gear oil. If however, you have an automatic transmission, filling the front differential with CVT transmission fluid could be a real issue....
Q: I have a new 2015 Subaru Crosstrek and haven't had an oil change yet. No alerts have come on yet
Answered by Kevin
Subaru does not recommend leaving the engine oil in longer than 6 months (or 6,000 miles, whichever comes first). So you are definitely overdue on an oil change (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/change-oil-and-filter) based on the time criteria. Subaru recommends 100% synthetic oil. Although...

Whitney went above and beyond in solving my issues. Extremely friendly and extremely professional! Thanks, Whitney!

Tim was great; offered advice instead of just blindly fixing. Also Tim was super friendly and very genuine. Highly recommend!

Very impressed with the quality of work. Ned was on time and on budget. There were no surprise extra costs. Ned even helped me out with my other car, even though I didn't have an appointment for the other car. He took care of all of my car problems and he even found me a coupon for an oil change. I will be using this service again.
