Q: What does the Brake Warning light mean?

What does the Brake Warning light mean?

The Brake Warning light is located on your instrument panel. When the Brake Warning light is illuminated, then one of two things is happening: 1. The parking brake is currently engaged. If you are driving your vehicle and the Brake Warning light is accompanied by a beeping sound, it means that the parking brake is engaged. When the parking brake is disengaged, the light and beeping should stop. 2. There is a problem with the brake system. This problem could be with the brake themselves, or it could mean that you are low on brake fluid. If the Brake Warning light comes on and does not turn off when the parking brake is disengaged, then you should get your vehicle inspected or serviced as soon as possible. Tip Like all warning lights, the Brake Warning light briefly illuminates when the car is first turned on. The light is only a problem if it stays lit when the engine is turned on.
