Hi, so my car starts and drives no problems on a dry day. However when it rains my car starts and as I’m driving my foot is on the accelerator but it’s not reacting and it slowly cuts out even though my foot is on the accelerator. We thought it was the petrol pump but it’s still doing it only when wet. Any advice ? Mechanic's Assistant: Have you noticed an increase in fuel consumption? And how does the vehicle start—same as usual? Nope no increase in fuel consumption vehicle starts as same as usual however when it cuts out it takes ages to restart! Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car? It’s a 2010 Opel corsa 1L petrol Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Corsa yourself? What have you tried so far? No my local mechanic it’s been fully serviced and the fuel pump has been changed in the hopes that was it Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? No that’s it thank u

Howdy from Tennessee, I'm Chris aka Moose. Who am I helping today? I'm glad you've come here to get help. I will do my best to get the answer you are looking for. I help many customers, so sometimes my replies are delayed, I will respond once available. I try to be online at 1-5 pm and 10 pm-5 am every day. - Does it occur only when it is pouring rain or when the road is just wet? - When the rain stops and the orad dries, how far must you drive for it to clear back up?

Hi Chris/moose it's niamh from Ireland! Just when it's raining or Misty it will start to not react to acceleration and then cut out and not start if I get it started eventually then it will stay going for a while. When it’s dry it drives like normal.

Welcome, Niamh I recommend you check your air filter first to see if it's getting wet from an airbox or wheel well liner concern. Next, I recommend unplugging each connector under the engine and transmission and any that may get wet on the side of the engine and the ignition components. Apply a small film of Di-electric grease to the pins and connector gasket. Check all the grounds you can find on the battery, frame, chassis, engine, and transmission. Remove and sand those then grease them as well These things are about all you can do to address moisture causing a resistance issue until it finally turns on the check engine light and stores codes. Thank you for seeking us for help, I hope I provided what was needed. Press reply if you need to follow up. If you liked my answer please let me know so I can mark your question complete. Moose

Hello! I would check the mass air flow sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/mass-airflow-sensor-replacement) output signal. Measure the voltage with the key on at idle, increasing rpm, and then when it starts to run bad. Compare this voltage to specs. If you need help...
