On a v8 4RUNNER would bad o2 sensors cause every cylinder to misfire Mechanic's Assistant: Have you located all of the vehicle's [oxygen sensors](/topics-oxygen-sensor-toyota/)? Are the wires leading to and from each intact and in good shape? Yes Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your 4Runner? 2006 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your 4Runner yourself? What have you tried so far? It depends and I haven't done anything but put my code reader on and it came up with bank 1 sensor 2 and bank 2 sensor 1 and all 8 cylinders misfire and vac canister leak but it's not that but I did go from 1 [exhaust](/topics-exhaust-toyota/) to dual exhaust by taking out the y connector and running another pipe and exhaust Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? How much

Good Afternoon, my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* ill be helping you, so sorry to hear about the issues here on the 4Runner, i know how frustrating it can be to deal with misfires. Faulty O2s can cause every cylinder to misfire since the [engine](/topics-engine-toyota/) cannot control air fuel ratio as needed. I would recommend we first rule out the ignition and fuel delivery system first since that causes misfires more commonly but O2s can also cause it yes.

Ok

sounds good!

Well I've always had bank 2 sensor 1 bad but never misfiring and I actually melted the vac canister and still no misfire and put on a kn coll air intake and no misfire. Was wondering what that u shaped rod is under the plastic piece that says Toyota 4.7 v8 on top of the engine and it's got a adjustable screw. Is that the crank position?
Automotive Expert
i would need a picture or part number to confirm but the crank sensor is not on the top of the engine on the 4.7s so no it wont be that

Ok well I'm guessing a [spark plug](/topics-spark-plug-toyota/) or the o2 sensors. Would hooking anything electrical that draws alot of current cause misfire?
Automotive Expert
no it would not

That screw just above the cover
Automotive Expert
thats just to hold down that hose, its not anything electrical and wont be related to the misfire

I smell rotten eggs
Automotive Expert
thats common with a misfire.
