My car has 63567 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hello - yes, this is possibly a programming issue with your CVT transmission. While Subaru CVT transmissions don’t fail outright all that often, there seems to be a wide range of operating smoothness, which depends on the transmission controller software. I would check with your Subaru dealer for any software updates. There was also a service bulletin relating to possible oil leaks from the CVT unit, which could result in a low oil level condition for the transmission. Contact your Subaru service center.

Shield rattling on a 2012 VW Passat
No, it's not necessary. It's a shield that keeps your oil pan from getting hot (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-heat-shield). Those Volkswagens are so squirrely, if you want to talk about over-engineered German nonsense. Their oil pans are two-part oil pans on most of...
I press the gas pedal but the car isn't getting gas. The engine doesn't rev up.
Good question. I want to go through a few steps with you and hopefully find your problem and save you some time and money. If you find the issue during steps, then ahead and fix that fault and you should...
Car temperature gauge is halfway. I just changed the thermostat. Why isn't it going down?
Hey there. There are a few other reasons aside from the thermostat (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/thermostat-replacement) that may cause the car to overheat such as a clogged radiator (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/radiator-replacement) or potentially a faulty coolant fan switch (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/thermo-coolant-fan-switch-replacement). A clogged radiator may prevent the...

Slight humming nose coming from front end.
Hi there. Try stepping on the brakes and see if the noise goes away when driving. If the noise goes away, then the wheel bearings are worn and need replaced. If the noise is still present, then there is a...
My cars RPMs rev up and down
Hello, and thank you for writing in. Typically when the engine behaves like this, you are looking at an air issue. You will want to focus in on the air intake, mainly the throttle and throttle position sensor. You may...

Burnt rubber smell then couldn't accelerate or turn wheel & belt broke off
If the serpentine belt is original, that is has 125,000 miles on it, it may have just worn out and broke. However, there is always a possibility that one of the "rotating elements" (pulleys, a/c compressor, alternator, etc.) had a...
