What would be draining the battery so that the car won't start and the cruise like flashes with the engine light on

My car has an automatic transmission.

You will need to have the computer scanned for codes first to see if you have stored codes to something that may be causing the problems first. Then you should have the battery checked to see if it is holding a charge and is not bad. Sometimes when a battery is going bad it will not be able to hold a charge overnight but will hold it long enough to run during the day.
